BB foodservice – formerly Bestway Batleys foodservice, part of the UK’s largest independent wholesaler Bestway Wholesale – has chosen its Aberdeen site to be one of just 15 flagship depots across the UK. As part of the move, the site is set to undergo a major refit in January 2018 to support the site’s ambitious growth targets, providing a welcome boost to the local economy.
The Scotstown Road depot – which opened as Edwards Cash & Carry in May 1976 –will be a powerhouse for the newly rebranded BB foodservice, which is aiming for national turnover growth of 16% in 2017.
Steven Young, the site’s general manager, said: “The depot currently makes upwards of 700 deliveries every week to more than 600 businesses within a 240-mile radius. And we expect those figures to increase dramatically as we look to expand the number of businesses we supply with a wide range of food & drink products and a local, personal service.”
As part of its rebrand as BB foodservice, the wholesaler has handpicked 15 high performing depots in Aberdeen, Perth, Glasgow, Edinburgh (two depots), Newcastle, Cleveland, Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Cardiff, Gillingham, Southampton, and Plymouth.
