Systems Labelling have recently “transformed” the product labels of DH Mitchell’s dairy range. The Harefield based dairy business produces, packages and supplies to retail outlets in the South East of England. Historically using a paper based label with a basic illustration of a dairy herd the product line was in need of a face lift.
Enter Systems Labelling. A photograph taken by the customer of one of their own cows in a field with the farmhouse in the background was transformed into a high quality label achieving stand-out and subsequently increasing sales. Partner Duncan Mitchell commented: “Systems Labelling have worked wonders with a very basic image and reproduced artwork for our milk labels to a very high standard.”
The skilled artwork studio used cloning techniques to remove distracting images including the flies around the cow’s face, a telegraph pole and even shrubbery and the contrast of the skyline.
Systems Labelling also offered advice from a commercial angle on how to use straplines and slogans to position their product as a “local” product.
Systems Labelling have an enviable pre-press department who use a fully digital workflow including the DuPont™ Cromalin® blue proofer, revolutionary DuPont™ Cyrel® FAST solvent-free plate-making system and a Kodak Thermoflex Mid Platesetter with Hyperflex Resolution Enhancement Software.
Environmentally smart (solvent free) flexographic plates are being produced every 12 minutes improving productivity, durability and image quality. The advanced screening techniques have resulted in huge benefits improving the definition and quality of halftones and vignettes. Repro Director Robin Barker comments: “Our aim is to push the boundaries of flexographic print.”
Sales Director Tony Exford adds. “In this case we advised the customer to move from paper labels and varnish to synthetic and laminate. This combination performs better in application and also in a moist refrigerated environment. The labels retain their appearance and quality.”
