Formally known as NCH, Action for Children is one of the oldest children’s charities in the UK helping over 300,000 children and young people across 650 diverse projects.

Action for Children emphasis is on prevention rather than cure and intervenes at the earliest possible opportunity to prevent children being irreparably scarred by their experiences. There are many reasons why children can become disadvantaged and therefore the work of Action for Children is as diverse as the problems it seeks to address. The scope of their work covers children’s’ homes, fostering, disability centres, young carer support, homelessness and campaigning for social and political change.

Zameer Choudrey, Chief Executive of Bestway Group, knows only too well the benefits of having a strong, safe family environment, “The Asian community has traditionally placed family above all other aspects of life and the community is extremely fortunate to have these bonds, which sometimes we may take for granted. Many people however do not have these unions, often through no fault of their own.

“As a nation, we need to give children a sense of security and belonging. Children are our future leaders, businessmen, doctors, nurses, teachers, etc. Action for Children does an incredible job of instilling self belief and confidence into disadvantaged children, irrespective of their start in life or life experiences, ensuring each child fulfils their true potential. At Bestway we are delighted to be working with Action for Children and salute the tremendous role they play within society.”

Bestway’s Royal Ascot Charity Race Day is now in its 21st year and has raised millions of pounds for worthwhile charities including The Prince’s Trust, The Royal Marsden, Barnardos, Crimestoppers, Dyslexia Action and many others.

The Bestway Foundation which is responsible for the Bestway Group’s charity and philanthropic activities is committed to donating 2.5% of annual profits to worthwhile causes each year.
