The acquisition will see Bob Martin enter three new European markets, expanding its overall footprint in the region
Bob Martin, a leading international brand name in pet care and wellness, has reached an agreement with Nestlé Purina to buy the Nestlé Purina PetCare business, which manufactures and sells a range of small animal pet food (for birds, rodents, aquatic and small mammals) and pet accessories. The sale was completed on 1st January 2016.
The move, which follows past successful acquisitions of other businesses from Nestlé Purina, in markets such as South Africa, will see Bob Martin acquire manufacturing, distribution and salesforce capabilities in France, Spain and Italy, expanding the business’s existing footprint in Europe. The company will capitalise on the additional category expertise and new market insight which the Purina PetCare team bring to Bob Martin to create a unique proposition for its customers.

Bob Martin was founded in 1892 in Southport, England where Robert (Bob) Martin manufactured vitamin and mineral powders after he recognised the need to supplement dogs’ diets. Today, the company is still owned and managed by the Martin family from its headquarters in the South West of England.
The company manufactures and sells a wide range of pet wellbeing products, under the Bob Martin brand and private label, which are available through supermarkets and specialist pet stores worldwide.
