msteacarton.jpgJudges have awarded Boxes Prestige a top honour following its outstanding work for Marks & Spencer Speciality Teas. The firm was one of only two British companies to claim a prize at the Pro Carton/ European Carton Manufacturers Association annual awards, earning top spot in the All Other Food category. The product comprised of six small 450mic Incada Excel red and black boxes with gold embossing held within a 450mic Colorplan black frame. Judges said the product “would provide instant shelf appeal” and that the “matt finish and bold colour combination will attract shoppers and demonstrate sophistication”.

The matt finish was achieved by printing on the reverse side of the board so that when opened the individual cartons have a high white inside surface.

Boxes Prestige beat 18 other companies from across Europe at the 12th annual awards, which attracted a total of 150 entries from 15 countries.

Sales manager Jon Basford said: “We were delighted with the finished product and it is really pleasing to have the hard work put in by our staff reflected in this award.”

Boxes Prestige managing director Peter Burgess added: “It is a huge honour for our firm to receive this prize, particularly given the high level of competition from across a wide area.

“To be picked out among the leading carton manufacturers in Europe is a massive fillip for everyone here and we’re all very proud of this achievement.”

Head of judges Satkar Gidda, from brand design consultancy SiebertHead, said: “The different levels of thinking, creativity and usage of cartons certainly made it very difficult for the judges.

“So difficult, in fact, that judging took markedly longer to complete and by the end of it we were completely exhausted.”

The chairman of Pro Carton UK, Robert Davison, who presented the award, said: “It is nice to see Boxes Prestige helping to ensure UK manufacturers maintain their reputation for being at the forefront of good packaging.

“The high quality level of all the entries amazed the judges and many of the cartons entered showed clearly what can be achieved using cartonboard.”

The award was presented at the Cavern Club, Liverpool, and other categories included Beverage, Confectionery and Shelf Ready. Other winners hailed from Italy, Switzerland, Germany and Spain.
