Brakes has been named the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) Fish Supplier of the Year in the UK for the second year running. The award recognises suppliers’ commitment to sourcing MSC certified products and promoting sustainable choices.
The win follows Brakes becoming the first foodservice wholesaler in the UK to commit to the Sustainable Fish Cities pledge.
Adam Swan, Category Director at Brakes: “It is a fantastic honour to win this award. We introduced the first MSC product to the foodservice industry more than ten years ago and have recently signed the Sustainable Fish Cities pledge. I think that this demonstrates that we are happy to set the standard.
“We are committed to delivering certified products, stocking around 120 MSC products. We work closely with customers and our supply chain to ensure they can make sustainable choices, where possible.”
George Clark, UK Commercial Manager at the MSC: “I’m delighted to name Brakes the UK’s MSC Fish Supplier of the Year 2015. Brakes’ commitment to sustainable fish has made it easy for schools, universities, contract caterers and independent business owners to serve seafood which has been responsibly sourced.”
