buster-bathroom.jpgBuster, the champion of the Draincare category, has teamed up with Oxfam for its National Plughole Week in 2009, which takes place in July. Buster is the only brand of plughole unblockers and treatments to increase sales in 2008, recording a massive 18% growth in sales turnover (TNS) and increasing its shelf space in major retailers. It now dominates the Draincare category with 33% market share.

Buster Brand Manager Louise Perry said: “2008 was a phenomenal year for Buster and 2009 will be even better, with the highlight of our marketing being our National Plughole Week in July. The aim is to get people thinking about their domestic plugholes and how fortunate they are with sanitation in the UK, compared to conditions in developing countries. Buster is a caring brand, and our link with Oxfam means we will be helping to save many lives.”

Buster will donate over £8,000 for Oxfam through giving 5 pence of the profits on every product during its National Plughole Week promotion. The money will pay for water filters and essential hygiene kits in countries where unclean water claims many lives.

Buster is the only brand to tackle the different needs of kitchens and bathrooms with its two unblocking products (Buster Kitchen Drain Clear and Buster Bathroom Drain Clear) and two plughole treatment products (Buster Kitchen Sink Fresh and Buster Bathroom Sink Fresh), which keep plugholes germ and odour-free.

Its innovative marketing campaign has educated consumers about the different needs of kitchen and bathroom plugholes and has won consumer hearts with the ‘Plugholes Need Love Too’ message.

Mark Evans, Oxfam’s Business Development Officer, said: “We are very grateful for the support that Challs International has provided to us, which is helping us to deliver lifesaving work to some of the world’s poorest people.”
