Fine food wholesaler Cotswold Fayre has appointed transport and logistics experts, GEODIS to manage the warehousing and distribution of its portfolio to retailers across the UK.

The new partnership will enable Cotswold Fayre’s ambient operation to become carbon neutral, in line with the B Corp company’s ethos that holds people and planet in equal value to profit.

GEODIS will provide a complete supplier to retailer logistics service, collecting products from listed suppliers, warehousing and stock managing, picking and delivering orders direct to retailers.

A combination of GEODIS’ Euro 6 compliant fleet and eradicating the trunking goods through regional hubs will reduce Cotswold Fayre’s carbon footprint by 46%.

The remaining carbon output incurred will be offset meaning that Cotswold Fayre will be the first fine food wholesaler in the UK to be completely carbon-neutral.

Paul Hargreaves, CEO at Cotswold Fayre says:  “I am delighted, that following an extensive review of our ambient warehousing and logistical arrangements, we have found a partner that aligns so well with our values and culture.

“Our partnership with Geodis will provide a distribution solution for retailers and fine food manufacturers, seeking to consolidate the environmental impact of multiple deliveries. Using an experienced and expert partner for our logistics is something we originally implemented more than three years ago – which has also significantly improved our service level for our customers, many of whom say it is the best in the sector.

“We look forward to working with Geodis to create and implement innovative ways to continuously improve our  environmental impact.”

In 2015, Cotswold Fayre became a B Corporation, a certification which recognises businesses which are using the power of business to solve social and environmental problems.   The company’s aim is use business as a force for good to benefit both people and planet.

Anthony Champness, Network Director, Geodis, said: “We are delighted that Cotswold Fayre has placed its trust in us to work in partnership to reduce the carbon footprint of its distribution operation.

“We have designed a bespoke solution that addresses Cotswold Fayre’s environmental concerns while also enhancing the smooth running of its operations.  We look forward to a long and productive partnership.”
