Prepare a sparkling menu that is sure to set the till jingling with the help of the 2017 Christmas line-up from Brakes.
Chosen by chefs for chefs, the festive fare on offer this year includes all the Brakes favourites with some standout newcomers to pull in the crowds. Starting with the turkey, the usual ready-to-roast and easy carve turkey products are joined by a new turkey ballotine that is set to steal the show.
The juicy turkey breast is hand-rolled with a gluten-free pork, sage and onion stuffing, covered with streaky bacon and encased in Savoy cabbage to keep it moist and succulent. The pre-stuffed and wrapped ballotine, packed 1 x 3kg, retains all its juices for added flavour, whilst saving on time and labour in the kitchen. Once cooked, it can be sliced into even portions, each with a generous helping of stuffing, avoiding wastage.
Vegetarians, as well as those looking to ring the changes with a meat-free alternative, will enjoy the new gluten-free butternut, brie and beetroot tart. A gluten-free, butter enriched crisp pastry shell is filled to the brim with a mixture of squash, beetroot chutney, brie and vintage cheddar cheese, all flavoured with a truffle-infused olive oil. The 220g individual tart comes packed in 18s.
For those who like to stick to tradition, Brakes’ new luxury Christmas pudding fits the bill. The individual 160g puddings, conveniently packed 12 to a case, promise a rich and moist treat stuffed with chunky fruit and nuts, and laced with cider, rum, sherry and brandy, topped off with a decorative orange slice. Serve with lashings of cream or ice cream.
To round off the meal, whilst capitalising on the current trend for all things French, serve up a plate of the new French mountain cheeses, either on their own or as part of a comprehensive international cheeseboard. The five varieties take you on a journey across the Alps, the Jura and the Pyrenees with varieties such as the Bleu D’Affinois, a perfect introduction to blue cheese, the Saint Vernier from the Jura with its wine-washed rind, and the unpasteurised Marcel Petite Comté.
