Welcome to our latest Vaping feature, bringing you the latest news about e-cigarettes, which continue to be an exciting and fast growing market.

Charles-New-GreyAs our report in this feature reveals, new research from Palmer & Harvey shows a third of retailers have still not heard of the EU Tobacco Products Directive legislation, aka EUTPD2. Not only that, 75 per cent of retailers do not think their customers are aware of the new laws either. Martyn Ward, MD of Palmer & Harvey is calling for tobacco companies and wholesalers to ensure retailers are fully informed about EUTPD2 as soon as possible. P&H have set up a special EUTPD2 communications team to help advise them during this critical time and are introducing a raft of initiatives to increase understanding, including a guide to EUTPD2, which is now available.

Someone else who can help you know where you stand on sales of e-cigarettes is Jennifer Roberts, UK Category Controller at e-cigarette brand blu. In our interview she discusses all the latest e-cigarette changes and how they may affect you. Jennifer says at blu they believe the market will change a lot over the next 12 months, as suppliers and manufacturers decide whether to become compliant with the new legislation or leave the market. “There is a considerable cost associated with redeveloping products to adhere to the legislation, and registering those products for sale on the UK market.”

We also talk to Archie Powell, MD of Decadent Vapours, one of the UK’s leading e-liquid manufacturers, who produce their 130-strong product range, including Roast Beef, in Swansea.

Decadent Vapours was one of the UK’s first e-liquids manufacturers and has led the field in flavour development. Archie recognises that TPD has caused “a fair deal of upheaval and inconvenience for the industry,” but DV have taken it in their stride: “We were the first company to have our liquids laboratory tested and manufacture our products under the most stringent conditions. The changes in bottle size and the regulations about advertising and labeling have been a concern, but we’ve successfully resolved those.”

The latest research from Canadean suggests that fun and flavour experimentation will pave the way for the e-cigarette market to grow, with vaping seen as a healthier alternative to traditional tobacco and flavour choice and availability being key. So take action today – get up to speed on vaping, the new regulations and the available products and make the most of this dynamic category.
