Home Delivery Network Limited (HDNL) has opened a new 280,000 sq ft sort centre in Northampton to support their nationwide operation during the Christmas peak 2008. Brian Gaunt, Chief Executive of HDNL said: “The new sortation centre at Crick will be a vital resource this Christmas giving us the capacity to sort an additional 10,000 parcels an hour, increasing our overall capacity by 20%. This additional facility will ensure we fulfil the expectation of our clients and their customers and deliver that Christmas promise.
“The centre is good news for the local economy as it has created a number of sortation and driving jobs. A further 150 temporary positions have been created at the site to support the delivery of parcels during the festive period.”
The Crick sort centre began operations in June 2008 and is currently being used to distribute parcels to the 58 regional parcel depots that make up the HDNL delivery network. Earlier this month operations at the centre have been scaled up to support HDNL’s nationwide operation during Christmas 2008.
