Tonight’s episode (18th Nov) of The Apprentice sees Lord Sugar’s budding entrepreneurs battle it out in Manchester as they tackle the tricky world of discount retailing.
Manchester based Rayburn Trading, the UK’s number one wholesaler, will appear on screens across the UK this evening as Director, Howard Goldman, features in tonight’s task.
The popular BBC1 series came to Manchester to film its seventh episode and selected the award-winning family business to work with and challenge the contestants to hone their business skills.
The two teams of business hopefuls set up discount shops in The Arndale Centre and selected their stock from the 95,000 sq ft warehouse at Rayburn Trading headquarters near the city centre.
Howard Goldman said: “As a businessman, I have always watched The Apprentice with interest, so it was fantastic to be a part of the show and see the contestants in action.
“We were approached to be involved back in January and the team and I cant wait to see the episode air. It was great to have an insight into the workings of the show and see how the contestants approached the challenge, I personally think our team could give them a run for their money.”
The wholesaler was honoured to receive The Queens Award for Enterprise in International Trade and in 2011 was included in the Sunday Times HSBC International Fast Track 100. Goldman was also honoured personally in 2012 when he was named North-West Director of the Year Award in the IoD Awards.
Rayburn Trading was founded in 1948 and has been run by the Goldman family for three generations. The company offers the widest variety of products in its sector, with over 4,500 products including household items, toiletries, confectionery, cosmetics and stationery.
Rayburn Trading distributes for major manufacturers such as Proctor and Gamble, Unilever, Mondelez, Coca Cola, GSK, Nestlé, Colgate -Palmolive, Johnson and Johnson and SC Johnson. The team also supplies a diverse customer base including major multiples, pharmacies, discounters, convenience stores and garden centres.
