Lyons Instant Coffee launches its Hero Blend in partnership with Help for Heroes

One of Britain’s oldest coffee brands, Lyons Instant Coffee has announced a three year partnership with Help for Heroes to raise £1,000,000 for the charity.

image003Founded in 1894 by Joseph Lyons, the brand became famous among Victorian society for serving great tea and coffee at its 24 hour ‘Lyons Corner Houses’ located across prominent London locations including the world famous Trocadero on Piccadilly Circus, Coventry Street, The Strand and Tottenham Court Road.

Now over 120 years later, the company is excited to unveil details of its Hero Blend – a premium freeze dried instant coffee using beans carefully selected from Central and South America.

Throughout its history Lyons has enjoyed strong links to the British military, with Joseph Lyons playing a key role in establishing the Territorial Army. To celebrate its proud heritage Lyons Instant Coffee will donate 20p to Help for Heroes for every 100g jar of its Hero Blend sold and 40p for the 200g jar as well as 50p for the 500g tins, in a bid to raise £1,000,000 for the charity.

In the 12 months leading up to March 2015, Help for Heroes helped over 4,000 veterans, military personnel and their families with its network of Recovery Centres.

A recent study launched in January 2016 by Help for Heroes and King’s College London, found that of the 750,000 men and women who served as Regulars between 1991 and 2014, at least 66,000 need long-term support.
