Madécasse Launches Toasted Coconut Bars

Madagascan chocolate brand Madécasse has signified its intent for UK growth in 2014 by adding to its exotic premium chocolate range with the launch of a new Toasted Coconut flavour.

Coconut_75g The ‘Fair for Life’ single-origin chocolate bars are made in Madagascar in small batches featuring the island’s famous heirloom cocoa and lightly toasted coconut bits with a refreshing crunch.  While most coconut chocolate bars use milk or a low percentage of dark chocolate, the Madécasse Toasted Coconut uses 70% Madagascan dark chocolate.

Distributed by Bespoke Foods, one of the leading importers of speciality foods, the new variant contains no artificial additives or preservatives and is available in a 75g format with a RRP £3.29.

Co-founder Brett Beach explains the new launch:

Brett_Madécasse_head shot“With a surge in interest in Madécasse in the last few months and some incredibly interesting developments for coconut as a food and beverage flavour, we felt it was sensible to get the new Toasted Coconut product into the market as soon as possible.  With coconut a real trend ingredient in the UK, we feel the product will see strong interest and strengthen our unique offering.”

Madécasse was founded in 2008 by Brett Beach and Tim McCollum who spent 8 years working as volunteers and development project managers in Madagascar, which is one of the world’s poorest countries.   The company follows a ‘bean-to -bar’ philosophy ensuring the whole chocolate production process takes place in Madagascar, helping to provide four times the prosperity of Fair Trade cocoa.   One of a growing number of companies looking to go beyond traditional Fair Trade, Madécasse crafts chocolate in Madagascar under ‘Fair for Life’ certification to ensure Fair Trade principles are applied at the farm and the factory.
