up3500.jpgSharp has introduced the latest in embedded EPOS technology, and brings a level of new functions and sophistication at an affordable price point. The UP-3500 EPOS terminal is built on more than 20 years of Sharp EPOS expertise, offering a stylish and compact design, and a wealth of advanced but easy to use functions, so it’s suitable for a wide variety of hospitality and retail environments.

The UP-3500 has a 12.1″ high-resolution LCD colour touch screen, meaning it’s easier and clearer to use for those working at a fast pace. The comprehensive list of functions includes the ability to split bills for large groups wanting to pay separately, and promotions menus that are usually associated with much higher price EPOS terminals. The UP-3500 also offers instant power on, and data is securely saved to the electronically protected memory giving peace of mind as no data will be lost.

The flexibility of the UP-3500 means it can be used as a single machine or as part of a network thanks to standard Ethernet technology. Peripherals such as barcode scanners, weighing scales, smartcard readers, and Chip and PIN terminals can also be connected with the minimum of fuss. The compact size and tilting screen of the UP-3500 means that it fits into the most space challenged of environments.
The new EPOS utilises the strengths of the Sharp embedded POS range, but also incorporates intelligent new improved features such as auto-key functionality to save time, full table monitoring, transaction recall, and a useful customer file for customer tracking.

Kevin English, EPOS product manager at Sharp said; “The new UP-3500 is ideal for any business looking to upgrade their EPOS system. It offers a stable and robust embedded POS platform with none of the complications of some other higher end touch screen based equipment. This terminal is suitable for a wide range of bars, restaurants, pubs and shops, and can benefit those looking for a stand alone outlet or a network of connected machines. The UP-3500’s stylish design also means it’ll blend in perfectly to any hospitality and retail environment.”

Stability and robustness that’s well tried and tested
The UP-3500 is based on Sharp’s tried and tested Embedded POS technology which has been developed over many years. As a result, it is a very stable and robust platform that is extremely reliable and the EPROM application software does not have any of the complexity of PC based equipment. An electronic contactless clerk key body is included as standard and allows secure clerk log-on and off using optional 64 bit contactless clerk keys.

Features and functions with a more competitive edge
Using the feature rich embedded POS platform as a base, Sharp has been able to add the extra functionality that the hospitality and retail markets need. For example, the bill separation functionality is second to none, and allows restaurant owners to offer an improved level of customer service. There is also a built in comprehensive promotions menu, which has previously been unavailable on a POS of this class. In an increasingly competitive business environment, this gives a clear advantage.  Another useful feature is the room GLU function which offers a benefit to hotel users as it means that table and bar tabs can be transferred to rooms quickly and thus minimise mistakes.

Easy to install, easy to maintain, easy to use
Straightforward to install and maintain, the UP-3500 also offers instant power on – and unlike some other machines, it can be used instantly after turning on the power switch. The screens can be designed to allow ease of use for all users, with items and function menus laid out in an intuitive manner. Another welcome improvement is to the auto-key functionality; so routine tasks can be simplified and carried out with the touch of a button, which can help save a significant amount of time.

Scalable to suit your environment
The flexible UP-3500 can be used in a variety of different environments. As a stand alone single machine site, or a network of several machines connected through a standard Ethernet technology. It’s suitable for a wide variety of hospitality and retail usages – and thanks to 5 inbuilt serial ports, a variety of third party peripherals can be connected to speed up customer service times. For example, barcode scanners, third party printers, weighing scales, Chip & Pin terminals and smartcard readers. The flexible screen design of the UP-3500 means that screens can be tailored to each individual requirement. This can be as simple or sophisticated as required from having many large buttons to a maximum of 132 onscreen buttons.

Space saving sophistication
For sites where space is premium, the UP-3500 has a small footprint, which means that more space can be devoted to customer interaction. The tilting screen allows the user to adjust the viewing angle to suit. Aesthetically pleasing, the black cabinet is a proven design that’s been successfully used on other Sharp touchscreen machines.
