A new market read for wholesalers in the foodservice channel reveals good growth across all key channels, with chilled food and drinks showing impressive upswings of 7.1% and 21.9% respectively.
The monthly reporting programme, which goes live this week, is a collaboration between the Federation of Wholesale Distributors (FWD) and CGA Strategy and is provided to all FWD members and other participating wholesale businesses. It shows the combined contributors driving growth in the channel with MAT value increasing 6.6% to October.
FWD has brought research and consultancy firm CGA on board to create a performance benchmarking solution for wholesalers to track and contextualize their sales, against a relevant competitor set. The monthly reports also create a barometer of wholesale channel performance, to provide greater understanding of market dynamics and opportunities for industry suppliers and stakeholders.
FWD Chief Executive James Bielby said; “Foodservice offers good growth opportunities for both suppliers and wholesalers, but in order for stakeholders to take full advantage they have to be able to measure the effectiveness of their investment in the channel. By bringing together our wholesaler members and CGA, we are creating a robust read of the market which will give them the tools to make the most of the potential in this customer base.”
