Global market leader in soy sauce, Kikkoman, has launched a new Gluten-Free Teriyaki Marinade to sit alongside its Tamari Glutenfree Soy Sauce.
More and more of us are choosing a gluten free diet driven by an increase in the number of coeliacs and those of us who opt to go gluten free as a lifestyle choice. Recent data shows ‘free from’ cooking sauces growing at 37% yoy.
Kikkoman which has been at the forefront of NPD for some years says consumers shouldn’t have to lose out on flavour or lower grade ingredients because of a wheat intolerance.
Kikkoman Gluten-Free Teriyaki Marinade is made using its popular Tamari Gluten-Free Soy Sauce, wine and spices.
Kikkoman is driving growth in both the Soy Sauce and Teriyaki markets. The £4.4M Teriyaki market is up an impressive 11.6% year on year and Kikkoman with a 43.6% market share is accelerating at 38% in volume, well ahead of other brands.
The soy sauce market is putting in a strong performance too, up 6.3% by value 8.6% by volume. Kikkoman is contributing the most towards category growth at 55.3% of Soy Sauce value growth and 42.1% of volume growth. Kikkoman Tamari Gluten- Free Soy Sauce is the fastest growing soy sauce sku up 20.1% by value and 24.4% by unit sales.
