bpa-free-bottlesOne of the leading baby care manufacturers, NUK, is the first brand in the UK to re-launch its product range free of Bisphenol A (BPA).

BPA is a chemical used in the manufacturing of clear polycarbonate plastic which is commonly found in feeding bottles, drinking cups and soothers. In recent years, some concern has been raised about the potential side effects of BPA, so NUK has pioneered the move to a completely BPA free range in the UK.

NUK has been at the forefront of innovative baby care ideas for over 50 years. Its orthodontic teats and soothers are the only brand to carry an endorsement by the British Dental Health Foundation for encouraging correct oral development and NUK products are the most widely-used in neo-natal units throughout the country.

Commenting on the decision, NUK UK Marketing Manager, Anita Bubb, said: “At NUK, we take any concerns raised about nurturing children very seriously, therefore we have followed the scientific discussions about BPA closely. In addition, we communicate with our customers regularly and recognise that parents are concerned about this issue. This has resulted in our decision to re-launch the whole UK range as BPA free.

“We’re very excited about the new range. NUK BPA free bottles are now available online at www.nukbaby.co.uk and the whole range, which includes bottles, teats, soothers, trainer cups and breastfeeding accessories, will begin appearing in-store very soon. By developing the whole UK range as BPA free, parents have the reassurance they need when choosing products for their babies.”

To help consumers find these products, there is a BPA free sticker on every bottle and they can be easily identified by their slightly opaque appearance.
