Queenswood Natural Foods Ltd is an independent wholesaler and has been supplying the independent retail trade for over 35 years. The business has recently been taken over and the new MD is Melvyn Norris. The new Sales director – Nicki Stribley is also a new key member of the management team whilst Peter Burke who has over 20 years’ experience with Queenswood has now been appointed Director of Operations. Queenswood are based in the Southwest of England in Somerset and are one of the leading wholesalers to the health food and organic trade. We also specialise in supplying a wide range of commodities and ingredients to the food manufacturing industry.
Utilising our own fleet of vehicles, we carry regular deliveries to a large area covering the South West, the South, South East, West Midlands and South Wales.
Having started from humble beginnings selling potatoes from a small shed, Queenswood have now developed into a popular wholesaler with a 65,000 sq ft HQ in Bridgwater. The company now boast a portfolio of over 9,000 lines which include both chilled and frozen products. We also have 80 employees.
Customers’ expectations are higher now as the age of the internet allows greater access to information and more choice is available. People want and expect more for their money. Queenswood’s customers are at the forefront of new lines and independent brands which are competing with the giant multiples.
The company ethos and values are traditional and very much customer focused. Although there has been a recent change of ownership the company is still owned by a family business and the same principles apply.
Over the past few years the business has seen a vast growth in Farm shops, deli’s and the organic sector along with Free from and Fairtrade products being purchased.
Free from products are on the increase as more and more people are diagnosed and aware of their health conditions. The internet has also offered a huge amount of information for consumers to research and self-diagnose.
Queenswood foods also export around the globe and have key accounts as far as Hong Kong and China. As the world develops and the channels for communication and movement increase then so does the need and want for western products and vice versa.
The company has developed their own range of prepacked wholefoods and has an enviable reputation for quality commodities in both conventional and organic sectors.
The future is looking bright for Queenswood and plans are being made to ensure the next 35 years are just as successful.
