Flexo print replaces expensive litho laminate

This follows a move by the leading independent supplier of high quality bakery products to replace expensive, litho laminated retail ready packaging (RRP) with flexo-printed, dual-role corrugated fibreboard cases from Rigid, for ‘Quorndon’ cakes, muffins and flapjacks.

Charlotte adds: “In the past, we mistakenly believed litho-laminated RRP gave the best quality, but switching to Rigid’s four-colour, flexo-printed clay-coated boxes has produced high quality, cost-effective transit cases with tremendous visual impact at point-of-sale. Apart from offering a more economical and viable print process, Rigid is focused on providing a first-class supply chain management service. This has allowed us to reduce our case inventory levels significantly, with the company stocking bulk runs available for immediate call-off”.
Quorn Country Foods is a well established, family-owned business with annual group sales of £10 million. For the third year running, the company recently achieved higher certification levels for International Food Standards (IFS) accreditation. Quorn manufactures products under a number of popular brands, including Quorndon Cake Company, Muffin Company, Flapjack Company and Campbells and Highland Speciality Shortbreads. In addition, the company is fast building overseas sales of its ‘Tu Vita’ export branded oat bars and muffins – supplying major retailers in Italy, France, Scandinavia, Holland and Germany.
Rigid Containers currently operates two extensive manufacturing, warehouse and logistics facilities in the UK. Strategically located in Selby and Desborough, the two plants provide storage for some 30,000 pallets – ensuring its customers enjoy unrivalled ex-stock service levels.
