WM – Who’s inspired you most in your career?

Karen Brady. Early in her career she made some brave decisions and succeeded in a very tough environment. She also appears to manage family and work life, making a success of both.

WM – If you were an item in a cash and carry, what would you be?

McCain Menu Signatures Gastro Chips. I know that any chef choosing these would put me on an amazing plate of food.

WM – If you had to do it all over again, what would you do different?

Get involved with food earlier in my career. I have always loved cooking and would have enjoyed studying something like food science to be able to relate it to my work today.

WM – What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you at work?

Thankfully I cannot remember any.

WM – Who or what makes you laugh?

James Corden. I am loving the Carpool Karaoke videos he is doing on the Late Late Show at the moment.

WM – Do you have any hidden talents?

I can make great Yorkshire puddings.

WM – Who would be your favourite party guest?

Heston Blumenthal. We have all seen him create his triple cooked chips, but I would be interested in what else he would do with a potato.

WM – What is the greatest luxury in your life?

My kitchen. We knocked down walls and had a new kitchen fitted a few months ago and it is now absolutely the heart of our home.

WM – What is your favourite guilty pleasure?

A fully loaded Gourmet Burger (has to have blue cheese) with McCain Signatures Skin on Fries.

WM – Do you have any secret ambitions?

To be on the Great British Bake Off.

WM – What’s your dream holiday destination?

Skiing in Canada. It would be amazing to ski in those magnificent mountains.

WM – What are your three favourite movies of all time?

Love Actually is compulsory viewing every Christmas; Despicable Me 2 has all the family laughing, and Kingsman is a recent favourite.

WM – What is your favourite book of all time?

The Harry Potter series, I love the escapism that the stories provide for children and adults alike.

WM – What’s your favourite pastime?

Food – eating out with friends and family or cooking at home.

WM – If you won the Lottery, what would you do?

The obvious – amazing holidays as a start to create memories of my family together. Then I would ensure my children are financially sound so they can follow their dreams.

WM – What would be your advice to someone thinking about coming into this industry (apart from “don’t do it”)?

Get involved! Foodservice is a growing and ever changing industry and with this growth comes exciting changes and challenges. At McCain, we are constantly monitoring the market to ensure our customers have solutions to these challenges and new opportunities to delight consumers.
