black-tower.jpgFamily winery Reh Kendermann has scored a superb total of 14 medals at this year’s Mundus Vini International Wine Award. The Mundus Vini International Wine Award is the world’s largest officially recognised wine competition. Held in Germany, for wines from all the wine-growing regions in the world, a total of 5,343 wines from 41 countries wines were entered in to this year’s Award.

The international tasters awarded a total of 450 Gold and 1,190 Silver awards, of which the UK’s top selling German wine brand, Black Tower, took Gold Medal for the Rivaner 2007 vintage. Silver Medal was awarded to Black Tower Classic Riesling 2007, a further endorsement of the quality of Black Tower’s contemporary wines. This latest success follows the brand’s record achievement earlier this year of 12 million bottles sold annually worldwide.

Kendermanns, the No. 1 new generation wine brand from Germany scooped the special award for “Best dry supermarket wine” in its category, as well as a Gold Medal for its Old Vine (Alte Reben) Dry Silvaner Rheinhessen 2007, and five further Silver Medals for its Kendermanns Roter Berg Dry Riesling Pfalz 2007, Kendermanns Blanc de Noir 2007, Kendermanns Terroir Kalkstein Dry Riesling 2007, Kendermanns Eiswein 2007 and Kendermanns Pinot Noir 2007 Pfalz.

The judges awarded 85 or more points to a further eight Kendermanns wines, demonstrating the consistent high quality offered by this dynamic wine brand.

The Bend In The River Sparkling Pinot Noir Rosé 2007, which was recently launched in the Republic of Ireland gained Silver Medal, while Reh Kendermann’s Carl Reh Winery at Oprisor, Romania also reaped success, winning Silver Medal for its Val Duna Merlot Rosé 2007, and scoring 85 points for its Val Duna Sauvignon Blanc 2007.
