Potato merchant and grower RBR Crops has upgraded its fleet with a three-tonne diesel-powered Cat® lift truck from Impact after 10 years’ experience of proactive maintenance support that has eliminated unscheduled downtime.

The Norfolk-based family firm, which has a 7,500 tonne capacity storage facility, typically uses its three-strong forklift fleet five days each week to load stock on to delivery trucks – although this increases to seven days per week during harvest time.

An out-of-action forklift can be the difference between meeting and missing quotas for the 52-yearold business that is an approved supplier of potatoes to UK supermarket chains and has its own storage facility and in-house logistics services.

Chris Wright, Company Secretary for RBR Crops, says: “We need to get the job done and can’t afford to have issues with our equipment.

“We specify Cat lift trucks wherever possible owing to their sheer reliability, and Impact takes care of all our servicing and maintenance requirements, and has done for more than a decade. “Working with Impact offers piece of mind, and leaves us free to grow the business – both out in the field, and in the marketplace.”

Impact provides proactive servicing and maintenance for all RBR Crops’ materials handling equipment.

Wright adds: “By proactively identifying parts that are worn and will need changing soon, Impact has time to order replacements, schedule in the work and avoid any unexpected truck downtime. That’s so important for us.”

Impact only uses genuine Cat® spare parts made to original equipment standards to guarantee full exchange compatibility and maximum performance.

All parts are fitted by manufacturer-trained engineers, and supported by a world-class supply chain that enables 97 per cent of parts to be delivered within 24 hours.

Impact is the sole distributor for Cat® Lift Trucks, Konecranes Lift Trucks, Mafi and Carer Heavy Duty Electric Lift trucks for the whole of the UK and Ireland. Impact is also an agent for some of the world’s best-known specialist brands, and offers a full complement of materials handling equipment, ranging from automated guided vehicles, multidirectional trucks, side loaders, articulated trucks, access equipment and cranes.
