Leading flame-grilled burger brand Rustlers has enlisted the help of football legend Peter Shilton, the most capped England player of all time, and the one and only Chesney Hawkes to release a ‘realistic’ football anthem, in case England don’t win Euro 2016!

“Whilst we really hope that England or one of the other home nations teams win, we’re being realistic in the knowledge that England have only won 9 games in Euro history and it’s 50 years since they last won a major tournament,” says Adrian Lawlor, Marketing and Business Development Director.

The humorous anthem, which has already attracted around 150,000 YouTube views as well as having been picked up in mainstream press, urges fans to adopt a sense of realism, with lyrics pointing out ‘No victory in 50 years. And yes, it could be 50 more. Best prepare for some tears. Coz our defence will likely let them score.’

Peter Shilton adds that England hasn’t made a final in 50 years, and it doesn’t matter if we don’t win one more time. “We invented the world wide web, created the jet engine, pioneered DNA sequencing and the flame-grilled burger that can be cooked in 90 seconds,” he points out.

Kepak is actively promoting the anthem on social media with the hashtag #letsberealistic and is also producing a limited number of commiseration Rustlers burgers that fans will be able to win on social media.

The packs feature a patriotic St. George’s flag and sachets of mayonnaise and ketchup. In addition, the company is producing a quantity of themed vouchers which can be redeemed against any Rustlers burger and encouraging consumers to customise their very own “Commiseration Burger” using staples in every home – ketchup and mayonnaise – to paint the flag onto the burger.

“We’re confident that whether we win or lose, fans will agree there’s no tastier way to commiserate than with a flame-grilled Rustlers, particularly with the bread toasted and your favourite ingredients added. It’s game on,” adds Lawlor.
