With an RRP of £9, the new premium sparkling wine will offer shoppers a trade up from SPAR’s already hugely successful Perlezza Prosecco. The premium Prosecco is packaged in a stylish, flute-shaped bottle to clearly show consumers its more luxury appeal.

SPAR Prosecco Speciale will be introduced on 24th October, and its launch is expected to bring SPAR an extra £350,000 in retail sales. Cath McIlwham, SPAR UK Head of Brand, said: “As shoppers more frequently trade up to premium products during the festive season – either for themselves or as gifts – the launch of our Prosecco Speciale will come at just the right time.

“Sales of Prosecco outpace Champagne in the UK, and Prosecco represents 64% of all sparkling wine sales, so we are confident our new launch will tap the trend this festive season.”

With a host of awards to its name, SPAR’s Perlezza Prosecco is one of the fastest growing and biggest selling sparkling wine brands in the UK impulse channel excluding wine specialists* (*AC Nielsen).

“Alcohol represents a great opportunity for SPAR retailers to boost sales in the run up to the festive season, so it’s essential that we at SPAR Brand are offering them a credible, great-tasting range at excellent value prices,” said McIlwham.

“According to Him! research, 11% of shoppers choose to buy alcohol in a convenience store over the range of other options in the marketplace, and this is growing year on year,” she said.

What’s more, 5% of customers now buy alcohol for gifting in a convenience store. SPAR is catering for this market with its range of gifting options, including the return of its successful Perlezza Prosecco and Chocolate Gift Pack (RRP £5).
