Thames Cash & Carry has launched a mobile ordering app to help its customers manage their orders on the move.

The app, which has been developed by RNF as part of its partnership with Sanderson, allows retailers to place orders from their smartphone and is fully integrated with Thames Cash & Carry’s website, meaning customers can begin orders on the website and finish it on the app, or vice versa, providing a seamless digital ordering experience.

Rob Mannion, Managing Director of RNF, said: “With studies showing that mobile apps deliver 120% higher conversion rates than mobile websites and 2.5 times higher retention rates, we’re seeing increasing take up across the wholesale market.  As well as providing a convenient way for Thames’ customers to order from the depot, the app also links with our bespoke customer engagement platform BEAM, allowing Thames to engage with app users in a personalised and relevant way, increasing the effectiveness of the communication and ultimately increasing sales.”

Jackie Taylor, Sales Director Wholesale Distribution at Sanderson said: “Teaming up with RNF has brought both our expertise together, enabling us to develop the interface between the app and the existing business API (application programming interface). We are now able to offer our customers a personalised app that integrates seamlessly with our specialist wholesale solution Swords, meaning wholesalers can now get a branded app out to their customers within weeks.”

The Thames Cash & Carry app, which is available in both iOS and Android versions, allows customers to build their order by either scanning product barcodes using the phone’s inbuilt camera or searching the online catalogue. Customers can also use the app to manage their favourites lists for quicker repeat ordering, access their order history, track the status of undelivered orders and even check when their next payment is due.

Mr Sucha Singh, from Thames Cash & Carry, said: “We’ve launched the mobile customer app and are so pleased to have received a great response. Customers have said that the ordering app is easy to use and saves time as they can order on-the-go and save regular products in their favourites list. The app gives customers instant access to their account information and we’re maximising sales opportunities by offering personalised promotions. We’re also keen to utilise the latest technology in our customer communications.”

The app is available to download free from the App store.
