nicolas-04Thomas Lowndes & Co. recently offered its customers a unique insight into the talents of one of France’s leading pastry chefs, Nicolas Boussin, at an exclusive demonstration on the use of GRAND MARNIER® in food at Michelin starred restaurant, Simpsons in Birmingham.

Nicolas Boussin, the culinary ambassador for GRAND MARNIER® and previous winner of the coveted title of the Best Pastry Chef in France, demonstrated the art of making fine quality, luxury desserts, cakes and chocolates using GRAND MARNIER® and CHERRY MARNIER®. Having devised the recipes himself he demonstrated new and innovative flavour combinations such as Earl Grey tea and GRAND MARNIER® within a sumptuous Equinox cake, the divine taste sensation of strawberry, rhubarb and GRAND MARNIER® in a yoghurt mousse cake finger, chocolates with coriander and GRAND MARNIER® and the classic crepe suzette in the form of a dessert cocktail.

Boussin travels the world seeking inspiration for his recipes. “The most important thing is to taste the GRAND MARNIER® in the first bite,” he says.“Manufacturers should add enough alcohol to give flavour but not so much that the other ingredients are overpowered.” Boussin’s demonstrations are designed to inspire food manufacturers and chefs to develop their own products and recipes containing GRAND MARNIER®, one of the most prestigious French liqueurs in the world.
