The Leeds-based company, which designs, manufactures, installs and maintains its own range of fast acting doors, has been working with Premier Foods for 15 years. Premier Foods manufacture jams, jellies and potted fruit among other products at its factory in Histon.
One of the new doors, a Bulldoor from Union’s range, is a replacement of an existing, less reliable door from another supplier, has been installed in a Tray Wash area of the facility, whilst the other new door, a Matadoor, has been fitted as an internal door in a Fruit Processing area.
With their 1.6 metres per second operating speed, these doors offer efficiency, security and, in keeping with all other Union Industries doors on the site, extreme reliability.
In common with the other doors in the range, the Bulldoor and the Matadoor also feature Union’s highly-regarded ‘Crash-Out’ damage protection facility, which ensures the doors remains operable if the heavy duty steel composite bottom beam is hit by a vehicle.
The fast operating speeds of the doors also play an important part in maintaining the integrity of different zones of the factory; they efficiently help maintain temperature control and reduce energy loss, whilst also protecting against the spread of airborne dirt and dust.
James Forrester from Premier Foods said: “The Union doors on our site have been consistently strong performers over the last 15 or so years and we are pleased to add a further two doors to our factory. Having such a long-standing relationship with a supplier has been extremely beneficial as the team at Union understand our business and is able to meet our specific requirements.”
Gary Bareham, Technical Sales Manager (Southern) at Union Industries, said: “We are proud of our longstanding relationship with Premier Foods. Since 1997 we have been working together to support the productivity of the factory with high-quality and user-friendly products. Our industrial fast acting doors have gained an outstanding reputation in a range of manufacturing and distribution environments, and this project shows the importance of reliability in maintaining that reputation.”
