Whitworths looks to category growth with Frootz

Frootz-x4_1Leading fruit snacking company Whitworths is launching Frootz, an exciting new fruit snacking brand for children.

Frootz ‘high fruit’ buttons are tasty little button-shaped snacks which have great play appeal for children, with up to 80% fruit content to keep mum happy.

The range consists of four fruity flavours, strawberry, raspberry, orange and lemon in 18g snack packs retailing at 43p each.

“Frootz has researched and trialled extremely well with 9 out of 10 mums confirming that they are likely to buy the product for their children, which is a major boost for the category” says Whitworths’ Commercial Director Colin Stephens.

“It shows our understanding that the way to maximize category growth is to provide products that children will buy into because they are tasty and fun, but parents are also reassured by the goodness of the high fruit content, enabling them to offer a healthier alternative to sweets or confectionery.”

In addition to the high fruit content, the Frootz range is low in fat and free from artificial colours, sweeteners or flavours. On shelf standout is delivered by eye-catching packaging with healthy messages for parents and colourful characters designed to appeal to children.

Listings have already been secured with Morrisons and Asda, with others expected to follow. The Frootz launch will be backed by a national PR and sampling programme.
