Nisa Local Merley has strengthened its support for the community with a donation of £735 to Merley Sports FC, providing the club’s U14s with brand-new home kits as well as additional away kits.

The donation was made possible through Co-op Wholesale’s Making a Difference Locally (MADL) charity, which helps independent retailers give back to good causes in their area.

Merley Sports FC, based in Oakley, Wimborne, is a not-for-profit football club that offers opportunities for children as young as three right through to adult football. With a focus on inclusivity and development, the club plays a vital role in the local community by encouraging healthy, active lifestyles and teamwork.

To mark the donation, members of the U14s team, alongside coaches Ross and Luigi, visited Nisa Local Merley to show off their new kits and thank the store for its support.

Ross Dixon of Merley Sports FC said: “We are incredibly grateful to Nisa Local Merley for their generous donation. Grassroots clubs like ours rely heavily on the support of the community, and having new kits for our U14s makes a huge difference. The boys love them, and they really help build team spirit.”

Store manager Ben added: “It was such a pleasure to welcome the team into store and see them proudly wearing their new kits. We’re delighted to support Merley Sports FC, who do such fantastic work in providing opportunities for young people locally. Thanks to Making a Difference Locally, we’ve been able to donate over £21,000 to causes in Merley, Oakley and Wimborne, and we’re proud to continue giving back.”

Kate Carroll, Social Value Lead at Co-op Wholesale, said: “This is a brilliant example of how local retailers can make a real impact through MADL, helping to strengthen communities and support the next generation.”
