The first new launch is the BIC Cristal® Large, which has a 1.6 mm nib size for bold, vivid and even writing. The pen has a transparent hexagonal barrel which provides a visible ink level and comfortable handling.
The second new product is BIC Cristal® Clic Gel, which has a 0.7 mm nib and gel ink for steady, smooth writing. With a retractable nib and an ink that glides over paper, this is the perfect pen for general use.
While the original BIC Cristal® ball pen is as popular today as when it was introduced in 1950, it is BIC’s continued product innovation which makes the BIC Cristal® Family a firm favourite in the office or the home.
The UK ball pen market grew in value by 5% from October 2007 to September 2008. The ball pen segment is first among the UK writing instrument market, representing 41.8%.
During the same period, the gel & roller pen market grew by 6% and represents 17.8% of the writing instruments market, second behind ball pens. Among this segment retractable gel pens are showing high growth of 20%.*
