Welcome to the December issue of Wholesale Manager. North London cash and carry operator Enzo Wholesale is set to become the latest member of Unitas when it joins the UK’s largest buying group in January 2026. The company says Unitas’ buying power, services and support will help it achieve its ambition of growing its £40m to £100 million by the end of 2027.
The Country Range Group (CRG) is finishing the year on a positive note after announcing that King Brothers Foodservice will be joining as its newest member from 1st January 2026. A proudly independent, family-run business that is steeped in over a century of history, the King Brothers Foodservice roots go back to 1908 when Denis King first purchased a 500-acre farm in Orton Waterville, Peterborough.
Birchall Foodservice is celebrating a major achievement after winning Best Wholesaler (turnover up to £50 million) at the 2025 FWD Gold Medal Awards, alongside a brilliant individual win for Jonny Carroll, who was crowned this year’s Telesales Star. The national awards, held in London, recognise the very best talent and innovation across the food and drink wholesale sector. This year’s results mark a proud moment for the Burnley-based, family-run business as it continues to grow, innovate and deliver exceptional service to caterers across the UK.
Since forming on the first day of 2025, The Wholesale Group has become the UK’s largest delivered buying group, the UK’s largest foodservice buying group and the UK’s second largest retail buying group, representing 14% of the UK wholesale industry. This year, the group has achieved increased group performance +6.51%, with 225 active members and 398 active suppliers. Coral Rose, MD, The Wholesale Group, tells Wholesale Manager how The Wholesale Group is performing and how the industry has changed in recent years.
During the recruitment phase there is often a deeper issue of transparency. Detailing the salary and compensation package should be up front and clear and spelling out the process, the timeline and the job expectations is vital. Be clear about what you want thus avoid confusion and misunderstandings for everyone, writes David Gilroy.
In essence, the future of the UK wholesale market will be defined by agility, technological integration, and a strong commitment to ethical and sustainable practices to meet evolving customer needs. Wholesale Manager spoke to some of the biggest names in UK wholesaling to find out what will be some of the biggest trends to emerge in 2026 and how the industry can be prepared for the year ahead.
Wholesale Manager wishes all its readers a Happy Christmas and a prosperous new year.
