FOOD and drink wholesaler JW Filshill, one of Scotland’s oldest independent food and drink wholesalers, has highlighted the “sterling efforts” of staff in ensuring KeyStore customers received timely deliveries during the recent spell of wintry weather.
Renfrewshire-based Filshill, which supplies KeyStore convenience stores and independent retailers across Scotland and the north of England, has procedures in place to deal with severe weather conditions and frequently has to implement its resilience strategy in the north of Scotland at this time of year.
In Aberdeenshire and parts of the Highlands, temperatures plummeted leading to treacherous, icy road conditions and several inches of snow fell, closing roads and cutting off communities.
John O’Neil, Filshill’s senior operations manager outbound, said: “Our drivers delivering across Aberdeenshire in particular deserve huge praise for their resilience, attitude and determination.
“In some cases, drivers have had to be pulled out from deep snow while attempting deliveries – yet they continued to do everything possible to ensure vital supplies reached communities, including those in areas declared a major incident.
“I want to recognise how admirably our teams have responded to the extremely challenging weather conditions we’ve faced recently.”
Mr O’Neil also pointed to the “real spirit of community” throughout the difficult trading period, with people stepping in to help one another which is “something that sits at the heart of what we do”.
“At Filshill, one of our values is being passionate about service, and our staff have truly lived that value during these difficult conditions,” he added.
Last year, Filshill was ranked number one by suppliers in an independent survey (Advantage Group Mirror report) across its key competitors for the 15th consecutive year.
