No-Low Brewery’s First Canned Lager Uses Innovative New Yeast

The UK’s original No-Low brewery, Nirvana, has launched a Pils (0.5% ABV), its first lager available in cans.

Inspired by classic German pilsners, Nirvana Pils is brewed using one of the newest yeasts developed specifically for no-low brewing, helping to ensure a fuller flavour and great taste.

Available in 330ml cans, the beer is Nirvana’s third new release in 2024, following April’s launch of its Cloudy Lemon Lager and Hefeweizen.

Described as crisp and clean, with a light malty bread-like flavour and a hoppy bitterness, the beer pours with a rich, foamy head. It’s brewed using Magnum, Saaz and Hallertau traditional hops for a fuller flavour.

The beer’s slightly more bitter taste profile means it neatly complements the sweeter notes of Nirvana’s award-winning Helles lager. It also means the brewery can now offer multiple variants – and packaging formats – of lager, which remains the UK’s most popular beer style.

While currently available to the trade as 12 packs, Nirvana are also planning to create a four-pack of the pils in September.

Becky Kean, founder and brand ambassador, said:

“Lager’s not just the UK’s, but the world’s, most popular beer style and some of its biggest brands are actually pilsners. So, it made perfect sense for us to craft our own – especially as we wanted to offer a scale of choice across the style and also in multiple formats. Given everything we’ve learnt since we set-up in 2016 and the availability of this new yeast, we think we’ve crafted yet another one of the best no-alcohol lagers!”
