Parfetts has opened a new 113,000 sq ft depot in Southampton, creating over 100 jobs and driving its push towards £1bn turnover and 2,000 fascia members.

The Hedge End site is the first new cash and carry in the region for 25 years, serving retailers from the South Coast to Greater London. It is already attracting strong interest from independents, including Bristol’s first Go Local store, which launched earlier this summer.
The launch period, from 3 to 13 September, features a host of supplier-led special offers, giving retailers the chance to secure leading brands at market-beating prices. Parfetts’ focus on value, service and promotional support is expected to accelerate sign-ups across the south.
Guy Swindell, joint managing director of Parfetts, said: “Southampton marks the next phase of our accelerated growth strategy. We’re committed to bringing great value, strong promotions and award-winning service to more independent retailers than ever before. We are pushing hard to bring the model to retailers across the UK and help them thrive in a tough economy.”
The depot supports the Go Local, Go Local Extra, The Local and Shop & Go fascias, strengthening Parfetts’ national footprint while staying true to its employee-owned model.
Noel Robinson, joint managing director of Parfetts, added: “Employee ownership means our colleagues share directly in our success. Profits are reinvested to benefit our people and our customers, creating a culture where everyone is motivated to deliver the very best service. This approach drives growth and ensures we work in true partnership with the retailers we serve.”
Parfetts’ strong performance is reflected in the latest Lumina Symbol Wholesale Index 2025, where the Go Local fascia ranked highest for Net Promoter Score, business support, communication, customer service, product quality, range and availability, price and promotions, and shopping experience, outperforming many national rivals.
The Southampton team is led by depot manager Graham Barton, who brings more than 40 years’ wholesale and retail experience. “We’ve had a great response from customers,” he said. “I’m proud and excited to be part of a company that values transparency, invests in its people and is wholly focused on making a difference for colleagues and customers alike.”
Barton is supported by a senior management team including Stuart Clark and Glenn Underwood as supply chain managers, Hollie Whitfield as delivered manager, Nigel Drake overseeing goods-in, and Elaine Walker managing front-of-house operations, many of whom have worked together successfully in the past, providing a strong foundation for the depot’s success from day one.
