SPAR North of England’s summer Jet Set Jackpot customer campaign has been its most successful yet.

Running between Thursday 3rd July and Wednesday 13th August, 50,000 customers participated in the campaign through its free-to-play tap, match and win online app.

A total pool of over 250,000 instant rewards were available to win during the campaign, including sought after products through the support of 23 of the biggest brands in convenience retail.

A record 31% of rewards were redeemed at participating SPAR stores across the North of England as customers played the daily game 620,000 times across the 42-day campaign – an equivalent of every 5.9 seconds.

Guaranteed prizes were issued 170,000 times through the Jet Set Jackpot bonus game which was unlocked by customers after every third time of playing the daily game.

Retired grandmother Fiona Foy, from Bowness in Cumbria, has won Jet Set Jackpot’s grand prize £10,000 holiday voucher and will put it to good use visiting her newly engaged son in New Zealand.

Fiona, who is currently recovering from a fractured spine suffered in an accident, was left in a stunned silence when she took the call to say she was the Jet Set Jackpot grand prize winner.

Fiona said: “I cannot believe I have won the grand prize. I was resting at home when I took the call, and I think it was a good job I was already lying down!

“The voucher will be incredibly useful to us. My husband and I were thinking we would have to wait until the wedding to see my son and his fiancée. Now we can afford a trip beforehand which is wonderful – it means the world to us.

“We will also see friends we have not seen in years in Malaysia and Australia on the way, and we could upgrade our flight tickets which is something I have always wanted to do.”

Fiona has participated in all of SPAR North of England’s gamification campaigns over the last three years. These include Frozen Fortune and Win With Every Goal and she is impressed with the value they deliver for customers.

She added: “I have won some great products through this campaign and previous versions, with everything from bananas to beers, and confectionery to crisps.

“I honestly think I must have redeemed more than £50 worth of free products this time as well as utilising the money off vouchers. The amazing news of the holiday voucher is the cherry on the cake.”

In line with previous customer campaigns, the technology behind SPAR Jet Set Jackpot was developed in partnership between James Hall & Co. Ltd, SPAR UK’s primary retailer, wholesaler, and distributor for the North of England, and Abraxas Marketing.

Niels Dekkers, Marketing and IT Director at James Hall & Co. Ltd, said: “Each time we run a gamification campaign, the performance statistics improve every time. It is quite clear customers love these campaigns and SPAR Jet Set Jackpot has raised the bar again.

“The 31% reward redemption rate is outstanding, and we know that seven out of 10 of voucher redemptions were within the first three days so its impact on store footfall is tremendous. We have also gained some interesting shopping habit insight through this campaign to take forward into future activity.

“Huge congratulations go to our winner Fiona from Bowness. It is particularly pleasing the grand prize has gone to a local store regular and to a customer who participates in our campaigns routinely.

“We could also not run these campaigns without the fantastic support of our valued supplier partners who have really stepped up again this summer for Jet Set Jackpot, and our thanks to the team at Abraxas Marketing for the smooth delivery of the campaign with the technology behind the game.”

The full list of suppliers supporting SPAR Jet Set Jackpot were: Britvic, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, Nestlé Confectionery, Nestlé Beverages, AB InBev, Accolade, pladis, Walkers, AG Barr, Euro Brands, Funkin, Kelloggs, KP Foods, Mars, Molson Coors, Mondelez, Premier, Red Bull, Suntory, Tropicana, Warburtons, Fyffes, and Vimto.
