The transformation of SPAR Walton Park is complete with the launch of a new Post Office counter at the store.
The Post Office has been in the pipeline since the store reopened in July after a £365,000 complete refit and change of ownership into the Lawrence Hunt & Co. Ltd family.
Services offered on the counter include letter and parcel handling, parcel and online order collections, business mail and shipping, and Evri and DPD services.
Personal banking (deposits and withdrawals), bill payments, DVLA driving licence renewals and car tax payments, and passport applications and renewals can also be accessed by customers using the Post Office.
Other services include the opportunity to open savings accounts and ISAs, changing foreign currency, access travel insurance and travel money cards, and in-branch verification for applications and services like DBS and SIA checks.
The Post Office counter was officially launched with a ribbon cutting ceremony and its opening hours are 8am until 5.30pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm on a Saturday, and closed on Sunday.
When SPAR Walton Park relaunched in the summer, the local community discovered a huge improvement to the store’s fresh food range, the fruit and vegetable offer, and the availability of high-quality meats supplied by Bamber Bridge butcher Mercer’s.
A brand-new Cheeky Coffee machine was added, the chilled wines and beers area extended, and the popular Cook branded premium frozen ready meals were also introduced to the store. The store is also on the Deliveroo and JustEat platforms.
Kevin Hunt, Managing Director of Lawrence Hunt & Co. Ltd, said: “Our transformation of SPAR Walton Park is now complete with the Post Office counter up and running. We have had tremendous feedback after the store relaunched in July, and this adds a further dimension to our convenience offer.
“With the Post Office opening hours we have implemented across six days of the week combined with the range of services that can be accessed from the counter, we have created a further superb asset for the community with the final piece of the jigsaw now added.”
Lawrence Hunt & Co. Ltd is based at offices above SPAR Penwortham in Liverpool Road, and the business has 22 SPAR stores across the North West of England employing around 500 people.
The family business is in its fourth generation and has been associated with SPAR since 1957.
The stores are serviced by James Hall & Co. Ltd, a fifth-generation family business, which serves a network of independent SPAR retailers and company-owned SPAR stores across Northern England six days a week from its base at Bowland View in Preston.
