Iconic bakery brand, Wrights, is celebrating its 100th anniversary with the launch of two Limited Edition Centenary products in wholesale: the Centenary Chicken, Leek & Bacon Pie, developed in collaboration with leading chef Thom Bateman, and the Centenary Caramel Custard Slice.

The two products draw on a century of bakery expertise and showcase Wrights’ heritage in both savoury pastry and sweet bakery.

The Wrights Limited Edition Centenary Chicken, Leek & Bacon Pie (245g) and Wrights Limited Edition Centenary Caramel Custard Slice (170g) are both available frozen, unbaked, in wholesale from April.

Created in collaboration with Great British Menu star, Thom Bateman, the Wrights Limited Edition Centenary Chicken, Leek & Bacon Pie is a delicious combination of chicken thigh, leek and bacon in a rich, creamy filling, encased in cheese shortcrust pastry with a puff lid and finished with a bacon-flavoured crumb.

The recipe underwent a detailed development process supported by Peter Wright, former Chairman and CEO of Wrights and grandson of the founders, ensuring the final recipe reflects both contemporary culinary insight and Wrights’ century-long craftsmanship.

The pie is designed as a versatile hero product for operators, ideal as a centre-of-plate pub or restaurant dish, paired with chips or mash for a comforting, indulgent classic, while also working perfectly for food-to-go counters looking for a premium option.

Available as a 245g frozen, unbaked format, the pie offers pubs, restaurants and food-to-go operators a ready-to-bake dish, that can be served in just 30 minutes.

On the development of the pie, Thom Bateman commented: “Working with Wrights on a pie for its 100th year has been a real privilege. Wrights has such a deep heritage in baking, so the goal was to honour that craftsmanship while bringing a fresh approach to flavour and texture. The result is a pie that is hearty, indulgent and incredibly satisfying. It’s a celebration of everything Wrights stands for, and I can’t wait to see operators across the country serving it.”

Wrights is also launching its Wrights Limited Edition Centenary Caramel Custard Slice, a celebratory twist on Wrights’ iconic Vanilla Custard Slice. It features layers of rich caramel custard between crisp puff pastry, finished with decadent icing and it is topped with swirls of caramel icing.

The slice offers bakeries, cafés and retail operators a premium indulgence that works perfectly for eat in occasions or as a take-home treat. The frozen, unbaked format also means operators can defrost as required, reducing waste.

Helen Bowyer, Commercial Director – Foodservice at The Compleat Food Group, home of Wrights, said: “Wrights has been baking with pride for 100 years, and what better way to celebrate this milestone than with two limited-edition products that showcase our heritage, quality and expertise. The pie, crafted in collaboration with Thom Bateman, highlights the very best of our savoury capability, while the slice has been meticulously developed by our skilled bakery team. Both are timeless classics with a modern twist, and we’re excited to see them appearing on menus, café counters and in our own outlets throughout 2026.”

As well as being available in the wholesale channel, both products can also be found freshly baked in Wrights shops across Staffordshire, through Wrights vans, and in selected UK forecourts from March.

As part of the Centenary celebrations, 10p from every Centenary Chicken, Leek & Bacon Pie sold in a Wrights the Bakery shop will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Research, supporting the charity’s vital work across the UK.

Founded in Stoke on Trent in 1926, Wrights has grown into one of the UK’s leading food bakery businesses. The Centenary products form part of a yearlong programme of celebrations and investment, including a refresh of its retail estate across Staffordshire, expansion of its store network, community initiatives and the Wrights Roadshow, a tour to key customer events and local shops.
