A 24 hour retail cycle has driven unprecedented growth at Parfetts Sheffield depot. The move has seen the established operation outperform the market with 10% growth in the last 12 months.
Online has grown to 42% of the depot’s total sales and are expected to hit 50% in 2019. Retailers have reacted positively to the ability to order up to midnight for deliveries the following day.
Commenting on the growth, Guy Swindell, retail director of Parfetts said: “Sheffield is now our best performing site in terms of year on year growth and a template for future operations. By moving to a 24-hour operation, we are giving our retailers more flexibility while still delivering great value.
“The Sheffield site reflects the changing nature of our service as we invest in our digital services. Parfetts is undertaking a significant investment programme in new technology to support our continued growth in this area and meet the needs of our customers into the future.”
The Sheffield depot operates as a cash and carry from 6.30 am to 6.30 pm. It is then used by the delivery and click and collect teams to pick orders through the night. Order can be taken up to midnight for next day delivery.
Across the UK, Parfetts sees over 5,000 customers visit its depots or order online every week with 19% of retailers now ordering online and enjoying the same offers that are available in the depot. Online orders can either be delivered, subject to availability, or use the ‘click and collect’ service.
‘Click and Collect’ orders are accepted at all Parfetts depots. A secure system allows users to access a nominated Parfetts depot and order from the 1000’s or products in stock. The order is then collated, tilled and ready for collection at the nominated time.
Parfetts also offers drop shipment on fresh and chilled products, fruit and veg, bread and milk, frozen food, greetings cards, and toys.
The news follows recent announcements that Parfetts retail club now has over 3,000 members after a record year for growth and now has over 450 retailers in its Go Local fascia group.
