Picture-71235The French apple campaign Le Crunch has announced a UK wholesale market sales-led promotion, with activities launched in the week commencing 8 November 2010. This is Le Crunch’s first large scale wholesale promotion in a number of years, and wholesalers are already expressing encouraging feedback.

During the week commencing 8 November 2010, a team of Le Crunch ambassadors visited ten wholesale markets across the UK1, to inform traders who sell or have an interest in selling French apples about the promotion. Based on the number of pallets purchased between 31 October 2010 and 30 April 2011 (the duration of the promotion), wholesalers will be able to claim prizes to treat themselves or their family; from remote controlled cars or helicopters, to fleeces, hats and golf accessories. Prizes are tiered into five categories, so wholesalers can either claim a lower level prize for one pallet of apples, or wait until they have purchased more pallets and claim higher value prizes.

A leaflet detailing how to participate, the prizes on offer and the entry form will be distributed to wholesalers by the Le Crunch ambassadors during the aforementioned UK wholesale market visits.

“The UK is France’s biggest export market so it’s important to continue to invest with our trusted partners in the trade. The wholesale markets are the first point of contact for many of our producers therefore we are delighted to be able to run this activity and support their sales of French apples during the 2010-2011 campaign.” said Daniel Corbel, co-president of INTERFEL’s external market commission.
