Employee share-owned packaging supplier Kite Packaging has donated £28,000 to charities across the UK as part of its annual charitable giving campaign. Central to the company’s commitment to social responsibility, the campaign empowers Kite staff to support causes close to their hearts and make a tangible difference in communities facing challenges.
Nineteen charities were selected in total, each recognised for the vital work they do in health, social welfare, animal protection, and mental wellbeing. The selection of charities is an employee-led process. Each of Kite’s thirteen divisions votes for one or two causes within their local communities, fostering a culture of collective responsibility. This approach ensures support goes to causes that genuinely resonate with the workforce.
Among the beneficiaries is Rotherham Children’s Hospice, which provides personalised care to over 1,700 children and their families every year. The donation will enable additional respite care sessions, offering crucial moments of relief and support to those in need. Meanwhile, Doncaster-based Firefly Cancer Awareness and Support will use the funding to expand its free transport services, helping more cancer patients travel to and from life-saving treatments with dignity and peace of mind.
Another beneficiary, Love Football, supports men’s mental health through inclusive football sessions. They plan to launch new groups or increase session frequency.
Through this campaign, Kite has built longstanding relationships with many charities, including CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably), a leading suicide prevention organisation, Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice, The Air Ambulance Service, and others. Over the years, these organisations have expressed gratitude for Kite’s sustained support, which enables them to continue their vital community work.
That impact is also evident in community support and social care. For instance, Coventry Haven and the Coventry & Warwickshire Children’s Charity provide refuge and therapy to survivors of domestic abuse and childhood trauma, helping them find safety and rebuild their lives. Similarly, STEP, based in Swindon, empowers socially excluded children and teenagers by nurturing their personal development through accredited group work.
