Alliance Stores has announced the appointment of Neil Turton as a non-executive director as at Thursday 5th May 2022.
An ex-Chair of the Association of Convenience Stores, representing 35,000 stores, Neil has 35 years’ worth of experience in wholesale and retail, most notably as CEO of Nisa Retail. Neil joins Alliance after having recently left his role as Managing Director of Sugro UK, the leading confectionery and impulse buying group.
Alliance Stores is an independent locally owned and managed retailer that started with one large out of town supermarket in Guernsey and which in recent years has expanded into convenience retail in Jersey opening 3 stores in St. Helier and one out of town in St Ouens. Supply partnerships with Waitrose in Jersey and Musgrave in Guernsey have recently been signed to improve Alliance’s offer alongside a historic membership of Nisa.
“I am delighted to welcome Neil Turton as a non-executive director. Neil is a highly talented strategic business leader whose broad experience in the food retail industry will bring fresh perspective to the company helping us to further develop and diversify our pan Island business,” Alliance’s Managing Director Andrew Bagot said.
Neil Turton added: “Being a Non-Executive Director can mean many things. In this case, it’s about working with Andrew and his executive team to make sure we have the right industry visibility, profile, networks, supplier relationships, external partnerships and innovation.
We will be working hard to ensure that, faced with rising costs of living on the Channel Islands like everywhere else, we offer the best proposition to our customers in both Jersey and Guernsey and develop a future-proof strategy.”
