UK-based manufacturer Bar-Be-Quick is celebrating 25 years since it pioneered and produced the first instant barbecue.
Its proud British heritage has seen it manufactured and sold on British soil since 1986. It has continued to thrive in the increasingly competitive FMCG market for a quarter of a century.
To mark the occasion, a commemorative, limited edition pack has been made, which displays a silver ‘Made in Britain for 25 years’ stamp on all Bar-Be-Quick instant barbecues.
These special packs will be in supermarkets, convenience stores and independent shops from April 2011.
Since its first listing in one of the big multiples in 1986, almost 60 million units have come off the production line to date; the equivalent of 1 instant barbecue for every person in the UK. Due to demand, a party size instant barbecue (32cm x 52cm) was developed and launched in 1989.
AL FRESCO
Bar-Be-Quick, which is owned by parent company Rectella International Ltd, developed instant barbecues to offer consumers the utmost in convenience, whilst also supporting retailers that want to cater for the entire al fresco dining needs of shoppers.

The instant barbecue – made from a recyclable aluminium tray and FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) charcoal, available in regular and party sizes – is also stockpiled and warehoused in the UK to minimise the company’s carbon footprint, support UK employment and ensure availability during the summer months.
