CJ Lang & Son Ltd and SPAR Scotland have spent a lifetime supporting community groups, charities, and foodbanks through donations of products, vouchers, and cash.

Since 2013 SPAR Scotland has donated over £1 million to both local and national community-based initiatives and charities. A huge amount of charity and community requests are received every week and 2022 has been no different with a total of £142,753 donated this year.

Over £69,000 has been donated to Marie Curie, the Kiltwalk challenge raised £24,038, the community cashback campaign during COP26 meant £26,000 went to 26 charities, community groups and projects across Scotland, £7,474.03 went to the Red Cross and £15,518.11 went towards various donations to local charities and communities throughout the year.

Paula Middleton, SPAR Scotland Marketing Manager said: “We will always look to support every request that gets sent in to us. We put our values right at the heart of what we do and that means supporting the local communities where our stores are situated.

“We are delighted to have been able to raise so much for a huge number of groups around Scotland this year. We know that this work means we are building lasting relationships that make a huge difference and we will look to continue our support locally in terms of foodbank donations, charities, schools, and community groups throughout 2023.”

Next year CJ Lang will continue to support SPAR’s national charity partner Marie Curie including the organisation of a charity Firewalk. They will rollout foodbank bins to a selection of COS and independent SPAR stores and the business will work with suppliers to continue to donate to charities and foodbanks.
