colgate_chep-europallet-1CHEP has reached an agreement with Colgate Palmolive that will see its product flows in Denmark being shipped on CHEP blue pallets, due to the increased efficiencies that they will gain as a result.

“We are delighted that the major retailers in Denmark have concluded that there are significant benefits for the whole supply chain if they are willing to accept CHEP blue pallets. We are confident that other manufacturers both in Denmark and across Europe will follow Colgate’s example and switch to CHEP pallets,” comments Bo Sjoeberg, General Manager, CHEP Scandinavia.

“It is much more efficient for Colgate Palmolive to use a standard platform for the distribution of our products across the whole of Scandinavia. The recent decision by the major retailers in Denmark to accept CHEP pallets will help streamline our processes,” said Andres Rasmussen, Nordic Commercial Logistic Manager, Colgate Palmolive.

Colgate Palmolive products are manufactured across Europe and transported to a single distribution centre in Jyderup, Denmark, from where they are distributed to retailers in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland. Until recently, Colgate Palmolive used its preferred option of CHEP pallets for distribution to Sweden, Norway and Finland, however, it continued using white exchange pallets in Denmark, due to the main Danish retailers’ reluctance to accept CHEP equipment. With Danish retailers, including Coop and Dansk Supermarked, now willing to accept CHEP pallets, Colgate Palmolive has switched all its distribution to CHEP. These additional flows equate to 40,000 1200x800mm pallet movements per annum.

“With CHEP we can rely on receiving a guaranteed supply of high quality pallets where and when they are required. There are considerable advantages in using a standard platform across Europe, including reducing the complexity of the supply chain, not only for us but also for the logistic service providers that work on our behalf,” continues Mr Rasmussen.

“The impact that our operations have on the environment is also very important to us and the fact that CHEP pallets are continually maintained and recycled across the supply chain, compared with the white exchange or disposal pallet alternatives, is also another important factor.”

CHEP is the global leader in pallet and container pooling services serving many of the world’s largest companies. The company has more than 7,700 employees and operates in 46 countries. Supply chains served include consumer goods, produce, beverage, and the automotive industry with global partners that include Procter & Gamble, SYSCO, Kellogg’s, Kraft, Nestle, Ford and GM.
