Compleat Foodservice has invested £600k in a new cookie production line at its Crewe site, expanding its capabilities and increasing capacity.
The investment will support rising demand across retail and foodservice for more premium cookie options, as consumers continue to seek out more indulgent, higher-quality sweet treats. Compleat Foodservice has already seen an increase in demand for premium products and is forecasting growth of nearly 30% in value by March 2027 {1}.
Already a leader in sweet bakery manufacturing, producing cookies for some of the UK’s biggest QSR brands and retailers, the new line will enable Compleat Foodservice to expand its premium offering while increasing overall output by more than 30%.
Specifically designed to manufacture higher-specification products, the line supports larger-format and filled cookies, as well as products featuring a wider variety of inclusions such as large chocolate chunks and confectionery pieces, while maintaining a soft, chewy texture.
It also provides greater flexibility across formats, sizes and recipes, allowing Compleat Foodservice to develop more bespoke, premium offerings for its customers at speed and at scale, while supporting greater menu differentiation to competitors.
Examples include pairings such as white chocolate and miso, and milk chocolate and salted caramel, and chunky classics like white chocolate, triple chocolate and oat & raisin.
Helen Bowyer, Commercial Director at Compleat Foodservice, said: “As specialists in sweet bakery, we’re seeing significant demand for more premium, indulgent and visually impactful cookies.
“Our customers are looking for support to bring these higher-quality products to market, and this investment allows us to do exactly that, enhancing both our capability and capacity to produce cookies that deliver on exceptional taste, texture and appearance.
“It complements our existing offering, enabling us to support customers across a broad range of formats and quality tiers, while continuing to evolve in line with consumer trends and supporting our wider growth strategy in sweet bakery.”
