Fine food wholesaler, Cotswold Fayre, has today, June 29 2020, published its first Impact Report. The publication, an extension of a traditional annual report, looks not only at the company’s financial performance but also its effect on the world.
As a B Corp, Cotswold Fayre is one of a new generation of businesses that are redefining the way that business is done. These companies, are committed to operating in a way that is better for people, the planet and for profit, using the power of business to solve social and environmental problems.
As a distributor, Cotswold Fayre’s supply chain plays an extremely important part in how the company operates. Last year, the company held its first ever environmental conference, as part of its work to encourage and support suppliers to look at their own business.
“We believe that if everyone makes even small changes to the way they operate then together we can have a significant impact,” says Paul Hargreaves, CEO at Cotswold Fayre. “Our buying team now considers environmental and ethical contributors alongside product attributes and margins.”
The company also became carbon neutral during the financial year, by changing its delivery model and off-setting other elements of its operation. Its long-term plan is to be carbon neutral without offset and to switch to electric lorries, as soon as they become viable for the distances required.
Cotswold Fayre also supports a number of charities such as The Trussell Trust, where 25 pence from every invoice is donated to the local foodbank and City Harvest London which redistributes surplus food to those in need.
“It was so important for us not to be rhetorical but to demonstrate tangible results towards our business goals,” continues Paul Hargreaves. “While our first Impact Report provides plenty of statistical successes, perhaps one of the most important measures for me is just how everyone in the company has embraced our ethos and all contributed in different ways to helping achieve our goals.”
