The Country Range Group’s recently appointed Chief Executive Martin Ward is to take part in a charity bike ride from Chiang Rai, Thailand, to Luang Prabang, Laos, to help raise money for MAG (Mines Advisory Group).

Since 2015, the annual wholesale and convenience sector charity bike rides have raised over £830,000 for MAG and the challenge is aiming to take that total above the £1million mark with its 2023 riders.

The bike ride will take place between the 24th March and 2nd April 2023 with Martin part of a team of 30-plus cyclists embarking on the mammoth 400km challenge with the aim of supporting MAG so that even more landmines and bombs can be destroyed in conflict zones and women, girls, boys and men can live free from fear.

Martin Ward said:

“I’m thrilled to be part of the team next year embarking on the cycle challenge and am hoping to raise as much money as possible for MAG, who do such fantastic work helping to find, remove and destroy landmines from places of conflict. Hopefully the collective pedal power of the team will help us smash through the £1million mark for money raised for MAG since 2015.”

About MAG

The Mines Advisory Group (MAG) is a global humanitarian and advocacy organisation that finds, removes and destroys landmines, cluster munitions and unexploded bombs from places affected by conflict.

MAG also provides education programmes, particularly for children, so people can live, work and play as safely as a possible until they clear the land.

They work in communities to reduce the risk of armed violence through weapons and ammunition management programmes which keep guns and munitions safe and secure.

Since 1989, MAG has helped over 20 million people in 70 countries rebuild their lives and livelihoods after war.
