Dhamecha Group, the largest member of Unitas, has announced plans to open its 14th depot as it celebrates its 50th year in business.

The new depot, set to open in Bristol later this year, reinforces the family-owned wholesaler’s long-standing focus on cash and carry enabled by investment and innovation. It will significantly extend Dhamecha’s geographic reach by providing enhanced support for independent retailers across the south-west region, helping them compete more effectively in their local communities.

The move into the south west highlights the strength of Dhamecha’s customer-first business model, built on exceptional service, an extensive and relevant product range and consistent, market-leading pricing.

Pradip K Dhamecha, CEO, Dhamecha Group, said: “We are incredibly proud to be opening our 14th depot, especially as 2026 marks 50 years since we opened our very first depot in London. This milestone reflects not only the hard work of our team, but also the strength of our partnerships with suppliers and, most importantly, the continued loyalty of our customers.

“Bristol is a key location for our continued growth, and we are excited about the opportunities this new depot will create. It will reinforce our nationwide footprint while providing a strong platform to collaborate with suppliers on growth initiatives, drive innovation in range and pricing, and deliver even greater value to the independent retailers we are proud to serve.”

Unitas CEO John Kinney added: “Dhamecha has earned its position as a leading force in UK wholesale by delivering real value to independent retailers for 50 years. Its continued expansion is a powerful signal of confidence in the sector. At a time when the trading environment is challenging, it is encouraging to see businesses investing for future growth.

“This announcement demonstrates what can be achieved through a clear focus on customers and a consistent commitment to value and service.”

Dhamecha began trading in 1976 with a single depot in London. Since then, it has expanded across the capital before expanding into the Midlands from 2015 onwards. Most recently, it extended its reach further north with the opening of its Liverpool depot in 2024.
