World foods and category management expert Golden Acre Foods is launching a new, premium, protein snack range for the chilled meat fixture called Hungry Boar, designed to tap into the adult meat snacking opportunity.
Offering a source of protein and with no artificial colours or flavours, Hungry Boar features four SKUs of premium meat sticks – Chicken, Pork, Flamin’ Peri Peri and Flamin’ Jalapeno – all with an RRP of £2 for a 70g pack.
Aimed primarily at males aged 20-40, the protein-packed, gluten free range will be available in participating supermarkets, convenience stores and wholesalers next month, in time for Euro 2024 and the key picnic season.
Meat snacking as a category is in decline due to decreases in volume, frequency and penetration. Branded products currently contribute nearly 90% of the total category and are in -2.6% decline. Innovation in the category has been minimal.
Comments Rebecca Cutter, head of marketing for Golden Acre Foods: “There has been little new news in chilled meat snacking over recent years so we are really excited to be launching this new range, as there is a clear opportunity to bring a more adult meat snacking proposition into the category.
“These thin sticks of seasoned meat are the perfect protein snack for eating on your own or sharing – 185g of meat goes into every 100g of Stickler and each stick is bursting with flavour. A snack designed to fill you up, we’re confident the new Hungry Boar range will be hugely popular among adult male consumers looking for a tasty protein kick.”
The launch of Hungry Boar will be supported by a consumer and shopper activation campaign to drive awareness, trial and engagement.
